This is the day that the Lord has made!
Let us rejoice and be glad in it!
These words help me get going on mornings that my mind and body just don't want to get going. Unlike "Bounty" paper towels, this phrase truly is the "quicker picker-upper." When it comes to mind it's like a shot of adrenaline or caffeine; it's a wakeup call. It will put a smile on your face and a song in your heart.
When you think about it, the Lord has made each and every day as a gift for us. (as it's been said, 'that's why they call it the present') How we use that gift of 24 hours is entirely up to us. It's our choice, our decision to do with God's gift just what we want to do.
The possibilities are endless. Maybe it's a day off: you can chose to get a few more minutes of sleep. Maybe it's a busy day and you have to jump out of bed and get going. No matter what, this day, this gift from our Father in Heaven, is a time for rejoicing.
And just like a good Father, God urges us through scripture to keep making good decisions, to keep responding to His love, to keep looking up to Heaven to draw on God's bountiful love and blessings.
This IS the day. The Lord made it. The Lord made us. This is cause for rejoicing. Let us ALL rejoice and be glad in it!
